Brian Ferneyhough: Cassandras Dreamsong (1970) for solo flute
Cassandra marks the starting point of Ferneyhough’s investigation of the relationship between the performer, instrument and concert situation. By pushing the boundaries of technical possibilities of the instrument and motoric dexterity of the performer he creates sonic situations which transgresses the complex notation of his music.
